ABOUT ANTHONY AFFUL
BUILDING AND SUPPORTING COMMUNITY AND PERSONAL GROWTH WITH MUSIC AND SCIENCE
Anthony Afful is a professional musician with a wealth of experience playing music in a wide array of musical genres, ranging from J.S. Bach to Fela Kuti. With a recently earned Master's Degree in Oboe performance from Bowling Green State University, a Master's degree in physics from Mankato State University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering at the
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities,with a focus on nanomagnetic materials. Anthony has gained experience working with some of the leading thoughts and concepts of contemporary music.

There are three primary community oriented projects he is involved in:
1.) Spread the Love:
A project aimed at composer representation
​
2.) Brass Solidarity:
A project centered on supporting local communal engagement with an inclusive musical atmosphere.
3.) MinneHonk!
An activist street band festival that is dedicated to celebrating working class folx and encouraging conversations around community organizing, crosspollination of ideas and cultures.

He is currently a member of Brass Solidarity, The Brass Messengers , The Prelude to a Blizzard Brass Band, House on Fire group, and Di Bayke Klezmer Band of Minneapolis.

For non-musical vocational details he recently completed a masters in science in physics and is currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He is continuing studies on nanomagnetic materials, with a renewed focus on magnetic nanorods.
